Three Gateway Center
Today maybe a minor figure in the skyline of the Steel City, Three Gateway Center as a part of the Gateway Center Complex building once made the keystone in the formation of the downtown and transformation of the warehouse district into the city center. Cross shaped towers were the first ever implemented ideas of “La Ville Radieuse” (Radiant city) of Le Corbusier, at the time a brave, radical concept of business towers planted in the green open spaces.
Today the building holds a transitional point, being a step quietly leading from the greenery of Point State Park to the bustling city core, with the city tissue gradually condensing. The buildings simple metallic facade, vertically texturized silvery coat which envelops the steel core of the building might be just a modernist architectural fashion, but it could also be a tribute to the history of the city.
