Residence Inn Jersey City

This hotel building sitting just above the Grove Street PATH station in Jersey City is one of the newest additions to the booming downtown. Although it doesn’t impose by its size, it catches the eye with unusual shape and structure. Reveling in a simpler style of hi-tech architecture, it also honors the legacy of triangular shaped flatiron-style buildings. In this case however, this shape is not induced by the street morphology, but by the new trend of opening the spaces for the pedestrians, shaping to accommodate the walkways. In that sense, the building is levitating over the open ground floor supported by the massive, strutted pillars, not hiding the structure, but celebrating it.
