Gateway Arch

Built as a monument to the crossing of the Mississippi River, the Gateway Arch presents the aspirations of a nation in its conquest of the West. Undoubtedly the most recognizable detail of any veduta of St. Louis, Missouri, the arch also makes the best place to observe the city from.

Sophisticated and slim, built as the precise mirror image of catenary affected by gravity, the stainless steel clad structure actually mirrors its surroundings. The biggest masterpiece of Eero Saarinen is also the tallest man made arch in the world.
