Also known as the UBS Building, 480 Washington is situated behind one of the Jersey City’s marinas, just next to the PATH Newport station. This massive business skyscraper’s minimalist facade is interrupted by a long diagonal cut, giving the whole structure impression of an ice-berg ready to launch into the sea. The sleek, entirely glazed northern side of the tower is countered with horizontally striped facade on the south, giving the building two faces to match amount of the direct sunlight. The tower sits atop the wider foot wrapped in an industrial grid of solar shades accommodating the garages and utilities. However, the side of the building facing Washington Boulevard and a small park opens to the public with a wide stainless steel colonnade and open ground floor.
