10 Exchange Place

Unique and associative, 10 Exchange Place surely imposes as a local landmark. The shape of this Jersey City building alludes to being a lighthouse. The building facade facing the river has the horizontal stripes, the heavy basis, and a narrowing cylindrical appearance.  The rest of the mass of the building supports this theory as it dematerializes enveloped in fully reflective curtain walls. If you look at the building from the flank, it’s not a lighthouse anymore but a tugboat leaving the harbor. The crest like pinnacle might be a funnel, the terraced silhouette resembles the decks, and once lantern of the lighthouse now becomes the bridge of a ship.
